Had lunch with my sister-cousin, Sandra, and her husband, Mike, at one of our favorite fattening food places. CANNOT resist Irish Nachos (and neither could you--listen up--home made potato chips sprinkled with corned beef hash, topped with mozzarella cheese and a horseradish sauce. We all ate well and caught up. She's the closest thing I have to a sister, and Mike's more liberal than most liberals, politically (or so he says, hahahaha)--love him even though our political views might be a bit different. Lord--I have sinned--I ate more fat at that meal than I've eaten in a week, but, boy oh boy, I enjoyed every bit of it--down to the crunchy onion rings and the Italian roll my steak came in.
Then, we went to the Elizabeth Stampede. Some of you may remember that Sean went to a bull-riding camp and used to ride bulls on weekends. After the first time, he stopped telling me, because that first weekend, I was in a drunken stupor worrying and only stopped drinking when I knew he was okay and was on his way home. In the last year, I discovered that Bob had told Sean not to tell me any more when he was going to be riding bulls.
Rebecca's family owns a ranch in Montana, cattle, and Rebecca was a 4-H member in high school. She knew a lot about the horses and the bulls--she also had to explain to me some things about sheep--since there was mutton bustin' too (check this out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbPKR3UMwOs ).
Rebecca and I might have a girls' day out--she knows some designer haunts including a bunch of antique places in Denver (she's an interior designer). Looking forward to that outing.
Can't decide how long to stay in Denver--whether to try to meet my new colleagues at McGraw-Hill in New York City before Paul (my boss) leaves for vacation OR stay here for a while and head straight for the Maine cottage. Breckinridge is on my to-do list, so we'll see. I can never get in everything I want to do when we come to Denver. It's a great city. I'm hopeful that I'll see my sister-cousin and her hubby before we leave--on their turf at Cherry Creek.
